IDF 2014 – Where There’s a Developer, There’s a Way!

2014-09-15 19:10

A busy week at the Intel Developer Forum has just come to a close. Over the course of three (somewhat) sunny days in San Francisco, we got a chance to see what the developers, makers and creators of today’s technologies have in store for the upcoming year.

Just in case you didn’t get a chance to make it to IDF this year, we’ve pulled together some highlights from the three-day event so that you can experience a part of the action.

The event kicked off with a “bang!” as Intel CEO, Brian Krzanich, addressed the crowd for an inspiring keynote – let’s not forget that he was introduced by a digital version of Katy Perry! He went on to discuss Intel’s strategy on building out the Internet of Things, making wearable technologies a reality and continuing to push forward the mobile revolution. The keynote set the stage for the overarching theme of IDF 2014 – focusing on developers and bringing great products to market together. You can watch the complete keynote, here

A Revolutionary Device

Falling right in line with Brian’s keynote, day one of IDF ushered in a groundbreaking product announcement: the release of the world’s thinnest tablet. Dell CEO, Michael Dell, joined Krzanich to unveil the Dell Venue 8 7000 series of tablets powered by the new Intel Core M chips. No longer do you have to decide between a razor-thin laptop or an ultra-fast tablet, as consumers can get the best of both worlds in one super-mobile device.

All Your Questions – Answered

Another revolutionary event that took place during IDF came not in the form of a new device but rather, occurred on social media. Brian Krzanich and Intel President, Renée James hosted a live Q&A on Twitter, making sure that even those not physically present at the event could still get their questions answered. Using the hashtags #AskBrian and #AskRenee IDF attendees and those tuned into the event from home were able to submit questions and have them answered in real time.

And with that, we bid adieu to the Intel Developer Forum – until next year!
