Since this initiative was launched by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in 1988, the technological landscape has changed beyond recognition. For proof of this, we need look no further than the amount of connected devices in the world, which reached 22 billion at the end of 2018. This figure represents an exponential increase in the attack surface, and means that paying attention to the Tactics, Techniques and Procedures of cybercriminals is more important than ever if we are to shore up our organizations against incidents.

This year we have seen an unprecedented number of cyberattacks on all kinds of organizations, using a wide range of advanced techniques. Foremost among the techniques analyzed is ransomware, which has hit enterprises worldwide; supply chain attacks, which get around traditional cybersecurity measures by breaking into vendors’ systems; and BEC scams, which use a combination of spear phishing and social engineering to steal large sums of money.

But, how can we protect against such pressing cyberthreats? And what will be the most dangerous cyberthreats in the coming months? To answer these questions, and discuss other important trends in the sector, throughout 2019, we’ve had the chance to speak to the real IT security experts: operations and security architecture managers, directors of companies in the sector, CSOs, heads of cybersecurity laboratories, researchers, and intelligence analysis experts.

These professionals discuss such important subjects as the professionalization of cybercrime, protecting critical infrastructure against cyberattacks, and cyberintelligence. Do you want to find out what these experts have to say? Read their opinions and discover their best tips for Computer Security Day.
