HP Unveils New Security Offerings for Cloud, Mobile, Threat Detection

2015-04-21 14:40

HP has teamed up with several security solutions providers in an effort to enhance and expand its security portfolio. With its new offerings, the company aims at providing a new approach for securing interactions between users, applications, and data.

One of HP’s new security offerings is HP ArcSight User Behavior Analytics (UBA), which provides enhanced visibility into user behavior. The solution, powered by a partnership with security analytics firm Securonix, enables organizations to identify threats within their networks by leveraging a combination between network event intelligence and behavioral data from enterprise users.

Cyber threat intelligence sharing is critical for an organization’s security strategy, which is why HP has developed HP Threat Central. The intelligence sharing and analysis platform delivers information that enables organizations to stay ahead of complex threats. According to HP, the list of companies providing intelligence feeds for Threat Central includes AlienVault and Crowdstrike.

Through a partnership with cloud security firm Adallom, HP has developed a new cloud access security platform. Part of the HP Atalla portfolio, the HP Cloud Access Security Protection platform is designed to provide protection for data while at rest, in use, or in motion.

HP has also joined forces with FireEye in an effort to deliver incident response and advanced threat detection capabilities. Two joint offerings have been announced as part of the partnership between HP Enterprise Services and FireEye-owned Mandiant.

One of the offerings is the Global Incident Response from HP and Mandiant, which investigates, assesses and addresses cyber security events. The second offering is Advanced Compromise Assessment from HP and Mandiant, which delivers advanced compromise assessment to help organizations determine if their systems have been breached.

Another announcement made today by the company is that HP Fortify on Demand customers can now benefit from a complementary service that provides an integrated mobile app reputation database. The new offering is designed to help organizations manage their bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies.

“The old school approach to cyber security focused on securing the perimeter, but the data powering business today goes beyond our four walls and must be protected from cyber threats regardless of where it resides,” said Art Gilliland, senior vice president and general manager at HP Security. “In today’s environment, we must challenge ourselves to embrace the new school of thinking that goes beyond the infrastructure to protect what matters most – the interactions between users, applications and data that when protected, can fuel our businesses and accelerate growth.”

Gilliland will deliver a talk on the “New School of Cyber Defense” at the RSA Conference on Wednesday, April 22.
